Need a new battery and when I do a search these three pop up.

Mine's a December '94 500 and am unsure of the size of the old battery, so out of these (and they actually fit?) which is the best bet to go for?

Cheers in advance. smile

My recent thread contains useful info and details of the Varda I bought from Tanya batteries is on page 2. The varda mentioned is a perfect fit and VFM at under £80 next day delivery. HTH

Hi,

I have had one of these in my 1994 chimaera since September 2015, without any problems.

exide 027 640CCA

It was the highest CCA I could find at the time, that also fitted the space available.

I think the battery box in the earlier cars is different and possibly smaller than the later cars, so be sure to check yours.

If ordering online, also check which way round your terminals are before buying. About 5 years ago I went to have mine changed at my local battery place, and when the guy came to install a new Exide 072, he found i needed an 073, which is an 072 with the positive and negative reversed. The main battery connections on my car weren't long enough to deal with the terminals not exactly where they were needed.

If, by “best” you mean biggest capacity you need to measure your battery box then look at the websites for Optima and Odyssey. Compare their specs with the ones you have listed.
To safe you some time, the Odyssey PC1500 is pretty good and (just) fits nicely in the battery box (in an early Griff at least)
