Alarm system on 98R Chimaera

I am trying to sort insurance for a 98 R Chimaera 450. The car has the factory fitted alarm system. Does anyone know whether this is Thatcham approved and if so whether Cat1/ Cat2

I have got a decent quote from Direct Line - anyone know of other options for a quote?

Join the TVRCC, and have a look in the magazine for insurers.

Try PEART associates, and Mannings insurance.

If it's the same as mine on my '99 450, it's a meta aquila (sp) which is a Thatcham cat 1 however, because of the way it is installed on a TVR (i.e. without the internal sensors) it's only a cat 2 for insurance purposes.

I've been with Privilege for years and with the Chim, they dont ask about the alarm category.

Mines a 97R and when I bought it there was a letter in the owners handbook that said exactly the same thing.

There's a copy of the letter from the TVR factory in the bible.

Also privilige are cheap for insurance.
