Someone tried to do that with an Oldsmobile V8 engine and it was a total disaster. Oh! I know who it was.. GM!

They did a nice little gas turbine engine (it didn't fall apart) that was around for many years so if you are looking for more power again..................... tumbleweed

I think that this was used on some of the RN ships as an emergency fire pump!

I saw the Iceberg V8 diesel at the NEC Motor Show many years ago. Always thought it was a brilliant idea and very impressive for its time. We've got a brochure for it somewhere.

The end of it provided plenty of 80 mm stroker cranks back in the day. Just right for a 4.5l.

And was a factor in Rover buying the rights to the Buick V8 engine.

Correct! I was in the engine bay at RAF Scampton and had the dubious task of trying to find a way to reduce oil loss on extended flights, working with engineers from Lucas. In the end we tried using a setup similar to the engine breather later found on CVH Escorts. It partially worked. rolleyes
