Hi all,

Long time lurker here, looking to purchase a Chimaera 450 or 500 over the next month or two. (Do let me know if you're considering selling).

I'm only 5ft 6 and on test drives, I have struggled with pushing the pedals all the way down, especially the clutch. Even with pedals adjusted, I still feel uncomfortable stretching. I've seen that Leven used to make a set of extended pedals for short people like me, but unfortunately this is now discontinued.

Does anyone have an unwanted set for sale, or any alternative solutions? I've already contacted Prestige Performance Cars and Elmwood TVR, however both have confirmed that the item is no longer available. If I can't find a solution, I may have to fabricate my own.

Many thanks,

Andrew.

The original pedal is only adjusted with threaded bar so I wouldn't worry about it too much

Agree with previous,
The Leven pedals just had longer thread bar welded to the pedal...certainly this applied to brake and clutch, the accelerator pedal had something different IIRC.

However, shouldn't be beyond the wit of man to extend the 'loud' pedal!

Hi Andrew

Had the same problem and got a set of pedals including accelerator from

petermessling@gmail.com

He offers 2 different widths for clutch and brake with extended threads, accelerator is a complete new adjustable unit so easy to get a much better set up for us shorter types. I did modify both the clutch and brake to set the gap between pedals to my own preference. All laser cut stainless with TVR cut into pedal.

As a side benefit, moving the clutch out gets it away from the steering column - my foot always hit it with the original.

Made a huge difference to the feel of the car.

Hope this helps

Ken

Ken, you’re a star! Thank you! I’ll drop him a message one i’ve sourced a Chimaera.

I’ve seen quite a few bad ones so far which have been described as pristine condition so who know how long that will take me!

Andrew.

Andrew,

Where are you in the UK?
I am 5’5” and have the Leven pedals in my Chimaera.
I have also promised to sell it in Spring but if you are in East Anglia and interested I could talk about selling it sooner.

Andrew.
I had my Chimaera 500 up for sale in the summer, before I took it off the market when changing jobs. I was hanging on for the spring but do let me know if you are interested. 1994 plate, 93000 miles, engine rebuilt and upgraded, outriggers replaced, recent new diff and roof, gearbox rebuilt, gazgold shocks, Clive Ford Y piece, Lupo light conversion. As far as I know, non-standard pedals with a longer threaded bar than others I have seen if that helps you - that said the couple I compared too might be shorter than standard.

Thanks for the info. I’m actually looking for a facelift version as I prefer the overall look, however your car does look like a very well sorted example from the info in your previous posts! Good luck with the sale, I’m sure someone will snap it up.

Andrew.
