Track Day preparation?

I am thinking about booking onto one of the TVRCC Track Days later this year.

Can any experienced participants please give me some guidance about preparing the car, potential wear of brakes/tyres and how (if) they change tyres etc especially for the track day?

Any advice most welcome.

I'm sure there are plenty more experienced track day participants who will give some pointers, but brakes will take a pounding, so change the fluid (preferably to dot 5.1) make sure that you've got at least 50% of the pad material left (some people change to harder compounds), and invest in a braided brake line kit, as they resist ballooning under pressure compared to the rubber versions. As for tyres, up the cold pressures 10-15%, and depending on how enthusiastic you are, be prepared to lose a couple of mm of tread. Ideally, you would only use tyres with less than 1/2 their service life left, as the greater tread depth causes excessive heat as the blocks move around, which will chew the tyre that much more quickly (if its dry of course).

All I ever do is look at the oil/water levels and top up if they need it. I normally take a bit of oil to top up at the end.
Its what the car was made for at the end of the day just go out and have fun.

I agree about the brake fluid, in fact it should be forced upon you. I was not advised and having sudden complete loss of brakes at Donnington, it was not funny, flat out to find nothing. Maybe i was daft for not knowing this point and certainly the car is not made/ serviced for this use.

Agree with Dave 500, as long as you don't leave braking till the last minute for every corner in my experience the standard brakes are fine.
You will get increased brake and tyre wear but it depends how far you push it.
Having said that I knackered the brakes on my S3 at Donnington as well (but then S3 brakes are awful compared to the chimaera)...
