Hi, am after some brighter Headlight Bulbs for my Chim, has anybody got a recommendation for a better than average Halogen/Xenon standard type bulb?
Cheers.

There are other issues here, the wiring is minimal rating so the lamps are dulled by lack of power. The reflectors are open at the rear so they get a little dusty after a few years. There are booster kits on eBay for these lamps that gets around the power restriction. I have this kit with Osram Night breaker lamps. That does the job for me

I use Ring 120% brighter bulbs. You can now get 150% brighter I think. They get around all the problems of corroded reflectors for under £25 and no hassle fitting. Avoid 100 watt, they melt the wiring. Stick to the standard 60/55 watt.

Thanks for the quick and comprehensive replies guys!

Will report back on the results when I've digested the suggestions.

At my recent MOT a head light bulb had fused and was changed by the tester. He informed me that someone had changed the bulbs to a higher wattage and this had burnt the bulb holder and caused a short. They were both changed to the original spec as I rarely drive at night.

Your other option is to go LED, I've been running a set of LED H4s for years now with great results.

Even though LED H4s draw (and require) far less current than traditional incandescent H4s they give a much greater light output.

After installing LED H4s you will need to make a small adjustment to your beam settings but after that you can pretty much consider them fit and forget, LEDs have a far far longer life than traditional incandescent bulbs.

I recall some problems with beam alignment, ability to align for low beam or high beam but not both. Assuming that problem existed, has it been solved?

Seriously quicker to fit the brjghter H4s. It's juts s straight bulb swap.
Most of us don't do a lot of night driving, and while you can change to LED, you have to ask if it is really worth it?

LED and Xenon are illegal if retro-fitted.
