Hi

Just had the AA out as the Chim (97, 450) would turn over, fuel pump would whir but not start. The inhectors where not firing either. No spark on the plugs and no HT supply

He said that he thinks that it is either the Dizzy as there is 0.7 volts AC but FAR too much resistance at 3000 ohms

The other eventuality I guess is the ECU!

Any other avenues I should take a sniff at first?

Hoepfull regards

Used the above thread when I had similar.

Was getting Ignition coil but nothing from HT's.

Disconnected the two grey Relays (see thread) and it solved everything

Hi

Thanks for the Help

There is definitely no spark at all. Supect as the AA man said to be Dizzy or ECU as there is no pulse on the injectors either

Think the ECU relies on the Dizzy for the timing pulse so if it is not getting that.....

Nuts! Just shelled out over 2.5K on other stuff.
I have the debt of a small country!

Could this be an alarm/immobilizer problem? Presume you have tried c.locking and opening a few times?

Is this the first time it's happened or is there a history?

Could be an ignition amplifier problem? This seems to be fairly common.

Do you get a spark in the lead going from the coil to the dizzy. (Disconnect at dizzy and hold next to engine block)?

This could eliminate the dizzy i.e. no spark then could be the coil

Thanks for all the replies so far..

Elliminated alarm/immobiliser - when that is on - engine will not turn over and no fuel pump.

There is charge to the coil and the amp seems to have checked out with the AA man

Right....i'm going back in.....right after that breakfast and coffee.

Right

DOne all I can and failed!

Tomorrow morning it will mostly be sitting on the back of an AA low loader and going to see its Uncle Mike at Horizon Motorsport for a sound talking to!

Mike seems to think it will probably be somthing simple like the Amplifier rather than somthing REALY wallet wilting.....think I will have to start selling my body AGAIN!

Will keep u all updated so anyone else who has these symptoms will be able understand the possibilities

Have you swapped over the two relays on the end of cables located near the ECU?
One is for the fuel pump, the other (IIRC) is for the ECU.
Swap them over and if the fuel pump now fails to whirr, then you've sussed it!
Good luck!

Right

Tis back! And in fine fettle too thanks to mike and crew at Horizon!

Turned out that it was three little wires in the dizzy that were causing the issue (I am a bit hazy but theres nowt new there!) and stopping the ECU from firing injectors and spark.

All sorted now AND they even sorted my stick throttle out while I was there to pick up!! Top Team!

Happy boy now!

Thank you all again for all the advice and thanks to Horizon. Customer service like this is sadly a rarity these days!
