Got a problem with odometer sticking on 29,999k. I have spoken to kerridges who inform me that if I let them have the speedo they will send it back to the manufacturers for repair without having to zero it.
the cost would be about 100 quid which sounds reasonable.any other suggestions?

P.S. is the speedo much of a job to get out of a griff 500?

you have to drop the steering wheel down buy undoing to bolts underneath the dash board.
Then unscrew the the to screws holding the dash on behind the steering wheel.
Then pull out the lefthand vent in the dash, feel through the hole and to the right should be a wingnut undo this(becareful not to drop it and the washer behind it).
Then slide the dash out left side first untill it all comes out and drops foward.
****BEWARE if u have a wood veneer Dash the is a very high chance of cracking it when taking it out so be gentle. Also u can damage the leather stitching aswell so use something like Vaseline to help ease it out.
As for the speedo make a note/diagram of what wire goes where and then take out by undoing the holding nuts and bracket and slide the speedo out.
Viola.

£100 sounds a bit steep to fix the speedo but i am sure someone else will be able to confirm wether its good value or not.

All the best

Most dealers and independants are aware of this "problem", and the fix. Mine has stuck a few times and always gets freed up at the next service. I suspect they just take it out and give it a good shake! It certainly doesn't need a replacement unit or return to manufacturer, and £100 sounds very steep! Try someone else.

Try ringing Speedy Cables - sorry, I don't have the number.

Mine took 4 weeks when done by Kings. They sent it to TVR who sent it to someone else - save a lot of time (and £) by sending it direct.

Try driving and repeatedly push the trip button, even try just pushing it a little. The vibration will eventually free the mechanism and it should go round. May take a few miles so find somewhere deserted to do it.

Cheaper than the £300 for a digital speedo which may or may not be compatible with your car.

Instead of Vaseline I used an big dose of Leather Food cream had the same effect and is good for the leather.
It is however a swine of a job and I'd try the Steve Heath method of pressing the trip before pulling the dash to bits.

Same problem with mine a few weeks ago when it got stuck at 24000. Drove in reverse up and down the driveway a few times. Now works OK again so waiting for 25000!

Steve,
When this happened to my Griff it stopped at some odd mileage, not xx,999. I re-zeroed the trip but it didnt make any difference. I still haven't taken it out as I dont need the agro of all that plus sending it away, although Speedy Cables did offer to look at it. Do you suggest mine might be fixed by repeatedly zeroing the trip and tapping the glass when driving around? BTW the speedo needle still works just fine.

Had the same problem on the Chimaera, stuck on 999 turnover. Car back from the garage today, where it was tapped??? a few times and has clicked over, and is now back in working order, at least for another 1k.

Mick, did you ever unstick your odometer...

How did you do it?
Mine got stuck today and have tried:
The trip reset...
Tapping...
Even the reverse on driveway remark!

but nothing has moved...

Mine stuck at 39,999. Did the reverse bit and it started to work for a bit then did the same thing, then tried the trip reset on and off over a week and it finaly started to work again.

The moral of the story is never believe the mileage on a TVR!

When mine stuck I got it fixed straight away. I wonder how many other owners did, and whether they will own up to the extra unrecorded mileage come the time to sell......?
