Hi all.
After looking for far too long, have finally found what I'm looking for!
Could you please run your eyes over the following and give your twopennysworth?
99V Chim 4.0 private sale
38k miles
Chassis and mechanicals appear fine.
Atlantis Halcyon blue, Magnolia 1/2 hide with cream carpets. Interior pretty immaculate
FTVRSH - however, bigger of the two due in 2k
Cosmetically two shallow scratches on front o/s bumper-have been touched up, but could probably tidy myself. Stone chipping minimal
Chap asking £15995
What would you pay? Just trying to gauge opinion as price guide doesn't have anything quite the same.

Sounds about right for the age/price. It will drop a a grand or two in the next two yrs though. But more importananly, ask yourself is it the right car/tvr for you. As once you have it, you have it!
My personal advice would be, in order;
1...meets or exceeds the condition you expect (chasis and general condition, service history, loved and cherished, wife is jealous of affection and money it gets etc;
2...the feel it has because you've driven as many as pos (at least twice as many as you think you need to test;
3...Price, matching the competition (take someone along with you who has had one for more than 18 months and isn't a millionaire.
4...Figure out what spare cash you have each month after the mortgage and bills etc. Figure out what you would be prepared to spend each month/year on the car for depretiation, maintainance, insurance, bits, petrol, being caught kissing it when drunk.(you will soon give it the name of a living, breathing thing you will love more than life itself) and then allow for double it. SERIOUSLY!
5... Be happy with the figure knowing you should have done it years ago.
6...Spend ages on the PC doing things like this.
7...Be prepared to go for a drive at the oddest times because you will want to.
8...Be prepared to go 25 miles for a pint of milk, bread, a newspaper, dog food etc. when there is shop within walking distance as it makes you feel 'Im on top of the world ma...'

check under the carpets for damp ingression
post purchase, be prepared to buy lots of modwise and leven bits, half hood, cover, hot start kit, brighter lights, fan modification etc.
It is likely to have a hot start problem. Check that on driving it, get it hot till the fans come stop, leave it a few seconds/a minute and see if it will restart. Easy modwise remedial, but may be good for negitations.
Consider rob ingleby at findasoprtscar or another specialist as they can look very hard and can often engotiate their fees back at least, if not a lower price.
Prices have been dropping recently, but you'll still have to pay for a good one, IMHO.
Good luck - keep asking for advice here and never og out for a drive without a mobile, RAC card and some cash!
