Worth mentioning that the white connector shown in the photo often has a mating half plugged into it with a loop of black wire between the two pieces.
This connector half and the wire loop are there to ground the OBD signal wire so the ECU does not see stray signals.
You cannot read the ECU with normal OBD readers you will need to get Rovergauge and a cable for your laptop (£35).
