I've recently bought a second roof panel, with the intention of chopping it in half, turning into a split roof.

I'm trying to figure out what sort of finish to go for on my 'second' roof. Options range to simply recovering to match the rest of the hood (boring?) to the rather fetching union jack offering performed by another PH member years ago. Barreti I believe. I do rather like this although the prep side and how to apply the pattern still needs some sorting. What do you think??? scratchchin

A Union Jack split down the middle, seems rather appropriate at the moment somehow wink

If you get the blue bits done in the same colour as your car it might look a bit cooool.
I had a split roof on the S car, really loved driving in winter with just the drivers section removed, felt like a fighter pilot laugh and the cab stayed warmer.

Kept the material on and painted on to it.

Nice! What 'products' did you use to paint the roof?

Cheap white primer spray tin. Acrylic model paint for the logo (brush painted) and car paint for the orange (with mini spray machine for models etc). One of the oranges is the paint used on the body. Top coat of lacquer.

Wow! That’s impressive with that lot. And no bad reaction between overlaying products either.
I have a cunning plan in my mind. Google ‘mini hood union jack’ for a hint. And if it all goes wrong I can strip the old material off.

That was over the top of this. This was my first attempt, which I was not happy with.
If you take the material off, you need to carry out a full prep and sand, as the roof fibreglass is not to a finished standard.
The car should be at Burghley next week with my nephew.

I’d say that’s a pretty good finished article. Well done sir!
Afraid I won’t be at Burghley this year. I’m sure your striking car will appear in photos though. smile

Would you believe.... I have one already. hehe Can't really get on with it - so I'm trying the split option instead. Ultimately, whichever I don't like will be sold. But this won't happen overnight.
