egg whisks under the bonnet

Well, following a cracked manifold and blowing gaskets, I took the opportunity to get a pair of stainless steel decat manifolds from JP. They look great and the sound out the back is fantastic again!

I've noticed a new sound now from the front, when the engine is being worked (not labouring) it sounds like someones in the engine bay whisking eggs (or something) inside a stainless steel mixing bowl. Is this something for me to worry about or is it because I've gone stainless steel?

The engine's a little rattlely around 3000rpm too - prob not noticed this since my Trev used to sound like a Massey Feguson.

Hmm..... mine's just had new stainless manifolds on (a few hundred miles ago), and I've had a similar noise since.

Fanbelt area? Could just be something needing lubrication?

I'm hoping it's not something needing lubing. You can't hear it when idling, but put the engine under load - as in pulling gently away - and you get beaten eggs!

I'm hoping it's a case of stainless steel? TADTS!

Just a thought...could it be that the different metal and shape gives rise to an amplification of different sounds?

I've tightened up the exhaust manifold bolts, and its a lot quieter now. Might be worth a try - the bible recommends doing this a few hundred miles after fitting a new manifold.

Still a bit of a noise, but the bolts are a bit awkward to get to, and I'm a bit of a spanner with a spanner
