Fuel tank pre filter

Can anyone tell me how to remove the fuel tank pre filter? I assume it's never been out so I would like to check it's condition.

When I removed mine after 20 years it was clean which was a bit of a surprise.

Be careful with the sealing gasket it is a strange size and easily broken.
