Who’s doing any mammoth road trips this year :)
Discussion
I’ve just reminded myself of the day I set off for France and in about 24 hrs i’d Travelled just under 1000 miles 940 odd I think and was sat on the beach in St Tropez sipping something ice cold.
Mega road trip, anyone else on here done a similar thing, I know many owners drive over to Coventry from abroad for servicing etc so I’m not the only one,,,
Any plans of tours or attempts at personal goals this year or any tales of past adventures are most welcome.

Robbed from my Reader's Cars thread, this is what we did in August last year:
North Yorkshire down to Canterbury for overnight stop, sailing from Dover (I don’t enjoy ferry travel so Hull to Zeebrugge overnight was a strict no)
Calais to Paris (stopping for two full days in Paris – secure underground parking so no car worries)
Paris to Lucerne, Switzerland (one night here. Not long enough, it transpired!)
Lucerne to Pisa (one day and night in Pisa, which was quite long enough… very little to see beyond the tower and the associated piazza)
Pisa to Florence (only one day and night here, a huge shame as we were extremely fond of Florence)
Florence to Rome (two full days and nights in Rome)
Rome to Amalfi (5 day break here, our “relax” time. Utterly stunning but the car rendered almost unusable due to narrow cliff roads and parking restrictions, necessitating a Vespa to get around)
Amalfi to Venice (2 nights in Venice)
Venice to Milan (overnight stay)
Milan back to North Yorkshire (in one, arduous 18 hour journey)

Just one of my many happy Chimaera road trips, there have have been lots like this:

Romping down to the South of France in style with the wind in your hair and the mighty V8 soundtrack filling your ears is my kind of paradise, you do need to budget two days down and two days back but thats all part of the adventure
A Chimaera is a fantastic GT sports car thats absolutely perfect for chewing up the miles, only the massive fuel bill spoils the fun but I solved that one years ago, running LPG is easy in France as they have cheap gas everywhere making it more cost effective to take my TVR than fly and hiring a nasty little Euro box when we arrive
These trips are why I bought my Chimaera ten years ago, it hasn't disappointed me during that time and it still keeps serving up the adventures

Currently on my last day of a 2 week tour of Scotland, covered over 1800 miles. Some stunning roads and scenery have combined with the amazing top down weather. Only seen 1 day of light rain. Truly good for the soul.
Slight variation on the original post though, we were in our Morgan, TVR was left in the garage. Did the same trip 2 years ago in the TVR missus insisted it was her Morgan’s turn.

We toured Northern Spain last year, including a visit to Madrid for a family wedding. I can highly recommend it, lovely scenery and wonderful empty roads. We stopped at a hotel in the middle of nowhere and a nice couple in their TR8 had stopped at the same place.
Very very cool. Forgot to mention PICTURES ARE WELCOME

Not quite so mammoth but I'll be doing NC500 in May, done it the last couple of years and can't get enough of the beautiful Scottish roads. The trip usually takes around 1500 miles door to door
Ive just been challenged to a road trip upto the north west of Scotland so looked on Google maps and low and behold it’s not far off the NC500Often heard of this road but never ventured that far off the beaten track
to find it.Next year for me but gives me a goal.
Any info, pics etc with be divulged with some excitement.
Hope this years trip is a blast.
Last month drove to 4 cities in Poland and 4 in Ukraine including Chernobyl.
This month drove to southern Greece via Zagreb, Banja Luka, Belgrade, Skopje, Larissa, Corinth. Now in Kilada.
Haven't decided yet which direction to go next. Have a hankering to visit Gallipoli where my grandfather was shotup. But I have a mate in Sicily too, etc etc. Great being a pensioner!
