Squeaky Clutch

Hi All:wavey:

My Chim's developed a rather embarrassing squeak, which happens whenever the clutch pedal's depressed.

I was pretty sure that it was coming from the pedal itself, so I spent some time in the footwell this afternoon greasing and WD40ing every part of the pedal mechanism I could see.

However, even after a judicious and liberal lubing, the bloody thing's still squealing.*

Any ideas on how to cure it would be gratefully received.

is it your joints - how about evening primrose oil?

Get under the car and check that it's not coming from the actuation arm in the clutch. If it is - then get it lubricated PDQ or else the arm might fracture like mine did.

I'm told it's the clutch return spring - TADTS

Mine doesn't "always" do it, but pretty much. I have been assured that it shouldn't be an issue.

Now I'm really worried - mine doesn't do it nor has it ever. Can anybody tell me the part number for the correct squeaky spring?

I had this due to a leaking slave cylinder. As with most people I have the cover sealed in place so don't monitor the fluid level very often. When I took a look I found that I had almost no clutch fluid.

Filling the thing with fluid helped for a while.

Had the exact same problem with mine. Sounds like it is coming from the pedal but its actually the sound travelling thought the fluid. The noise is created by a lack of lubrication with the clutch release mechanism. If you lucky you will have in insepction hatch in the bottom of the bell housing to which access can be made.

Austec fixed mine in a hour for £50
