Hi all, a friend of mine has a1995 Japan market 4l Chimaera and while working on it we noticed a blue sticker on one of the frost plugs [or freeze plugs? what ever they are called in the uk?] with the name HADLEY ENG LTD on it? does anyone recognise the name?
My 5l car of the same year doesn't have it? also my engine has the engine number stamped into the left front of the block just below the head gasket surface. my friends car has no number there? has his car had the engine replaced? just curious. his car is in lovely condition and has around 50.000 kms on it. cheers.

Core plugs wink

Could it be as simple as the manufacturer of the plugs? .......... Hadley Group

ahh core plugs [i thought that would be what the Americans would call them]
re, the sticker it also has temperature markings on it with four squares on it that presumably change colour if a certain temp is reached?
i have seen similar things in the form of a metal disc glued on to a "core plug" the disc will melt at around 120 deg.C and void a warranty.

What a great idea.
I’d rather use this than the TVR Temp gauge hehe

It’s a fraught business building engines especially when builder doesn’t install them.
Great way to work out a few basics.

Very true, when Tvr’s Speed six came out and a few stories emerged regarding engine failures my mate starting thrashing hell out of a brand new Tuscan he’d just got with the attitude Tvr would have to replace it if it broke, a red rag to a dumb ass bull!
I’m sure he wasn't only up and coming yuppee who thought he could do what he liked and many Tvr probably got abused just to try and break them. frown
Death nel right there,,, this was about 99 maybe?
