Hi there,

I got mine from SGS Engineering - TVR Chimaera Tailgate / Boot Gas Strut - 48.5cm GSC2278

Worked a treat, although I recall there maybe being 2 different lengths depending on the year (mine is a '97).

Interesting to read how COG got on with the extended version at 55cm. Would this fit the Mk1 cars? If so please can someone post a link to precise product as I am unsure how to find it on the SKS website. Thank you in advance.

The ones on SGS engineering are here I just bought some generic ones from a local seller. I went for slightly longer at 500mm to hold the boot open a little further (mine's a mk2) you just need to make sure you get a low rated ones I think originally 250Nm I went for 300Nm and I don't find the boot flexes Just get ones with a ball joint and you'll be fine i think I paid £16ish for a pair and gave the spare to a mate.

Hey COG do you know the part number ? I’ve emailed SGS explained they have sold before and it’s 55mm longer than standard measured mine and 48cm ball centre to ball centre but they don’t know which one and now asking for compressed measurement ?

Mine needs replacing as it’s gone rusty and would rather have the extended one but SGS don’t seem to know which one it is ? Notice the Chim has listed 47cm and 48.5cm on there website ?
