Early Chimaera Light Unit Wiring

I have finally started sorting my radio surround which I will be covering with a carbon wrap. However when removing the three button light unit I noticed two unconnected wires one short red wire with white stripe and one slightly longer blue wire with red stripe.
Should these be connected to anything?

I do not think so. I have also an early Chimaera with the same two lose wires.

I'd second that - mine was the same. As far as I remember, the R/W wire becomes live when the sidelights are on, the B/W is live when the main beam is on.
