Clutch Slip

Hi all, I am experiencing some clutch slip, ('97 chim 500, revs go up but not matched to acceleration) it started in 5th under heavy acceleration about 3k revs, after 500 miles it's 4th now recently in 3rd. I have never had a clutch go on a car before, I assume this is it?
If so, any advice on a type of clutch and what I could expect to pay at a dealer?

About £230 plus fitting

At about £40per hour, Recon 5 hours say..£200 labour.

So about £450 to £500 to allow for buggeration factor.

I had mine start to do the same, but got it fixed at a service so no idea what the separate cost is. I can however taunt you with the thought that when mine started this it was down to a (cheap) leaking seal - the clutch was otherwise fine, but needed replacing because of the gunk.

Steve when the clutch is done get whoever is doing it to check both the rear crankshaft and gearbox input shaft seals.

These both have a tendancy to let go and when they do they take the clutch with them taking you back to square one!

Mine started doing the same, had a new clutch fitted 2 weeks ago £500 by P.J.Woods. I wouldnt leave it too long as when they start to go it wont be long until you aint going nowhere.

Is anyone doing these clutch changes themselves? If so where are you sourcing the parts from?

I did my 400 myself and bought a complete assembly from V8 Developments for only £110.

When Morgan deleted the 4.6 V8 these guys bought the whole stock of modded clutches from them, good for up to 300bhp IIRC?

Cracking clutch, the job isn't too bad but it's a bit of a tight job.

P.S. this clutch isn't suitable for the 500 Steve.

corin, did you manage to do the clutch with the engine still in the car by just dropping the box out? Some people say they think you can, some say not. cheers
