So after each week seeming to have an issue
(I hear from owners never had a problem with mine in 7 years how ??????)
Fixed boot , stepper motor , wipers , plug lead , and the the TPS (has to go the Powers TVR )
Now.....on full ign sprung 50% of the time it clicks other it starts....but....in a “nano” second ease of sprung on key (not all the way off) and second time will fire into life !
So doubt its alarm or battery as battery fully charged etc
So would it be solenoid or starter ? Been told to take starter off and grease up ?? Wondered if anyone had this ?
So turn key clicks ease off sprung ign back again fires up all in less than a second !

Put key into ign and turn and there’s a “sprung” the last bit of the turning the key when the starter will work to fire up the car “sprung ign” (there’s 3 positions and last position is Sprung)
Everything works as it should but sometimes hot or cold turn the key to start car and it clicks but ease back off “sprung ignition “ last bit of turning the key try again and it will fire into life
So first turn of key and it clicks no starter turn , try again and it will start “fire into life” but this bit happens all in less than a second

It looks very much as though the crank part of the switch is intermittent.
Easy to check if you are happy fiddling with electrics.
Turn on the ignition, to the first position, then take a wire from the +12volt in to the ignition switch and touch the crank contact, it should turn the motor every time.

So that points to where the problem is but not the cause.There are many threads on this normally starting 'Hot start' but this is not always the case. Heat is however a factor as the starter is in a very closed space along with some rather hot exhaust pipes. Net result is the workings of both the starter itself but more importantly the start solenoid become gummed up as the heat dries out the lubricants.
The knock-on effect is TVRs inadequate wiring design cannot cope with the increased load caused by a sticky starter. For my own car I have utilized a spare relay position in the fusebox and used heavier cable to the start solenoid to, in part, alleviate the TVR wiring issues.
So starter gets my vote.
If you are hands on with spare time it will probably clean up and be OK. If not or if you are a garage simply replacing the starter is the most cost effective solution. They are not special so not costly in the grand scheme.
