Removeable rear plastic window?

Has anyone ever had this mod done to their hood?, ive seen car factroy roofs with zip out rear screens such as MX5 or MGTF but never a TVR... seems like a sensible idea and i would certainly feel less guilty about dropping the hood without having to worry about scratches. If anyone has how much and where?

Tricky, the window is about the largest of any soft-top. Its barely held in by the stitching.

Oh i know this too well... i put my bloody arm through it as the stitching had rotted... Had to have it all restitched last year.

Does anyone have any idea how feasible this would be? I've also put my hand through the back window (clearing snow) and then had it blow out completely on the M8. As an interim measure I've built a replacement from acrylic sheet bent to follow the contours of the hood. Trouble is, I've become quite partial to driving with the hood up but the window removed. A zip-down window sounds like the ideal option, and since I need a new window stitched in anyway...

I really like the approach used on the MX5 i.e. a glass rear window in a soft top, I think it might be possible to do something similar on a Chimaera by having the bottom half of the glass velcroed to the soft top iyswim. The window would have to be narrower than standard (glass not good at corners etc) which would restrict visibility, don't know if this would be a problem?

You could always keep PVC in the corners and use webbing as the vertical frames for the glass. Problem would be how to 'hinge' down the glass section in such a way as to lie flat against the rear of the 'parcel shelf'. That in itself may limit the height of the glass. Alternative is to have a removable panel, either to hinge down flat or to remove altogether to put in the boot like the Tuscan, but tricky to sort out seals. Needs someone with a bit of car upholstery and glazing skills to have a mess round.

Sounds interesting. I have only this morning discovered the stitching coming away on the rear plastic window of my Chimaera.

Can I glue it as an interim fix, do you know? Or must it be restitched?

Hmmm, i wouldnt glue with risk of damaging the hood fabric... also i suspect it wont be long b4 it becomes more unstitched when driving with the side widows open.
I had mine retrimmed in half a day by Krych trimmers in Bristol for 150 quid, excellent job and back the same day... Still would like a zip out screen though.
