Hi All

Im do not appear to have any of the air vent ducting ffrom the heater box to the left hand vent or the right hand side. I am trying to locate some but no joy - there is one for a Griff on certain auction site but £45 and still need the replace the other side. any ideas? has anyone replaced these?

First of all my '95 chim' vent bits came in a box so not sure if the following is correct.

It appears that from the plastic pipe there is a vinyl fabric tube similar shape to a gear lever gaiter that is a tight fit around the rectangular vent.
Can't give them to you 'cause the Chim' has gone. Also maybe different fittings on the Chim' and Griff' because getting to the vents in the dash facia is different.

On my '92 Griff' the arrangement is like the bits you have seen on ebay, I'm one short but am going to fabricate something out of plastic or tin.

Thanks Lance - yes I have seen a few images might just have to get creative - do you know what size the pipe is at all?

It looks like the pipe from Passenger vent goes straight to the heater box - but what about the passenger vent and the two vents in front of gear selector - any idea on routing?

I cannot help with specifics as I am not familiar with China.

However, if they are anything like Griff’s I expect you can fabricate what you need after a trip to a DIY store.

It sounds like your project is making good progress.

Weather permitting tomorrow I will have a look at work at some of Chimaeras we have on the shelf and see if any have the heating pipes intact or hanging and get some photos and sizes of the pipes and where they go if that is of any help to you. Assuming they are still in situ of course

First off nothing fits particularly tight so don't go expecting it to.

At the vents, as has been said, the join between the vent and the pipe is just a piece of vinyl material like a gear gaiter. I've seen some that are cut and sewn into shape and others which were simply stapled together. Both systems work. Once made it can be glued together. when dry it is possible to squeeze the pipe flat and insert it through the rectangular hole.
So the pipe from the gaiter is only a little over a foot long bending round to face towards the middle of the car. Coming from the heater box in the console is another short pipe of the same diameter. Joining these two pipes is another smaller diameter pipe that simply pokes into the other pipes by about 2-3" on each side.

Its certainly getting there Duncan - albeit my time frame is out the window - but enjoying it too much at th emoment to worry.

T74T - That would be great! if you do have any images that would be great. Hoping to get on this at the weekend - so no rush but hugely appreciated!

Thanks Steve, sounds good, I have a few bits I could use to fashion something together. By any chance would you know what size the conduit pipe is at all?

Here are the pictures I managed to get sorry about the quality the cars I could get at had no pipe work in place for the passenger side Possibly just the opposite of the drivers side

The vents had pipe lengths of 12 - 14 inches in the 42mm diameter pipe taped to them.
Cheers
