Lack Of Power

Accelerating in 3rd today noticed a hesitancy at about 4500 revs,felt like the car was holding back. Got new carbon trumpets, ACT induction pipes,plugs,leads and coil,plus tornado chip set up by Mr. Adams on the rolling road.Any suggestions would be welcome.The car shunts quite badly when on light throttle, don't know if this is related or not. Sounds like either fuel or air starvation. Have you checked both fuel and air filters recently?

Also, you may not be getting full throttle opening. This can happen if your accelerator cable stretches. This does happen - it's covered in the Bible.

Marc checked everything on the rolling road last month and was perfect at all revs. This happened today for the first time. I'm leaning toward a Knackered Cat but hope I'm wrong.Have got de catted ACT manifolds on. Peter

I had to change the main cat on mine last year as it had been blocked when the pre cats disintegrated. Symptoms were as follows:

1) The car ran very quietly.
2) Power was low throughout the rev range.
3) The car was returning excellent MPG figures (28 to 30 mpg for some reason)

This wasn't a sudden thing. The problem got gradually worse and worse over a period of a couple of months. It was only when somebody commented how quite it was I realised there was a problem. I took out the Y piece to find the pre cats sitting on top of the main cat.

Didn't bother replacing the precats and installed a sports free flow main cat.

Bugger me, How simple can it get, popped the bonnet this evening on yhe off chance and 3 plug leads were loose.Power back to warp drive +. Shunting still there but Ian up in Cheshire says he's got the solution to that. Thanks for everybodies input. Peter

Peter,

Can you post the solution to your shunting problem, when it gets sorted.

I know of others that have the same problems.

Ian knows what the problem is, He's driven the car and says he WILL fix it on Sun. June 5th. However, he says It's taken him over 4 years working on TVRs at Cristopher Neils to work out what the prob. is and he is loathe to reveal his hard fought knowledge just like that. But I will try for you. Peter. If you want his No. let me know. Have used him a few times now and have to say he's shit hot, and only £25 per hour !!!
