Idle mystery

Morning

Has anyone has a situation where the car starts, idles as expected then once the car is moving the idle will increases to 2000 rpm. once stationary it settles (after 10 secs) to the expected 1000 ish? I have a spare (known good) stepper - nil fix. I disconnected the stepper at 1000 rpm, went driving and the idle still rises to 1300 rpm until stationary when it settles down again!!

Disregard, I've put the water and fuel temp sensors in the correct positions its splendid.

As the stepper is not altering the airflow its is likley you have an airl eak as the engine warms up around the plenum area

Agreed, however the swapping of the temp sensors has resolved the issue. Its weird as i cant understand why when the car is stationary it idled @ 900 and would rise to 2000 when moving as a result of those temp senders being swapped. no doubt some 14CUX cone head wizardry.

No idea, unless the mixture was changed due to a wrong temp reading and that altered the tick over. It cant be air control or ignition timing.
