Alcantara Door Linings

Hi,
Has anyone re-trimmed the insides of their doors with Alcantara and does anyone have any pictures of the finished article?
I keep looking at the blue carpet on my doors and thinking it really lets the overall look of the interior down and thinking that a suede type material such as Alcantara would look good.
If anyone has done it, how hard was it to re-trim and where is the best place to buy the material from and how much does it cost?

IIRC V8 Kieran has something similar... think the previous owner did it though... might be worth dropping him a line.

Also seen leather inside the doors instead of carpet... looked pretty good too.

zippee i retrimmed my door linings took about 3 days in all.Hardest bit was getting the nuts off the actual door panel fixings.Once off it was easy.lay 5mm foam,on on top of other.Spray glue in a can.lay door panel onto the foam leave an inch spare around the edge cut to size.spray the panel stick on foam.Cut speaker hole.Then cut the Alcantara in the same way and stick on.Simple.Got the materials from a Furniture upholsterer about £50.00 all in

I don't suppose you've got any pics of the finished article?
My cars going into the bodyshop (neighbour reversed into my rear wing) for 3 weeks on the 4th June so this job will have to wait a month or so unfortunately, but I think it will be a huge improvement to the looks of the inside.

Zippee Podie was right i sold my car to V8 KIEREN who is on here and he may send some pics but really it was dead easy and did look good.That carpet does look cr-p thats why i did mine.

Mine already has inserts matching the centre console.. I'm changing it to carpet st some point as I don't like it that much.

Tony, how are your brakes settling in?

I had a hairy (or hairless my my case) moment this morning when trying to dump speed after overtaking a real prat! Really strong 'brakes bedding in' smell if you know what I mean Come to think of it i probably looked like a prat after that...Anyway, I think I will be using Martin_s's bleeding kit again this weekend.

What a coincidence, the alcantara I ordered for the exact same job was waiting for me when I got home this aft! Now I know what else I need to buy to do the job.

Thanks once again, I'll be ordering my alcantara end of June when my car comes back from the body shop - 4 weeks without it Aaarrggghh!!!
Mike (Tacoma) my brakes are coming along fine, getting stronger every drive. I did initially wonder what I'd done as at first they felt utterly useless but now they are bedding in they're getting a LOT more powerful.
Trouble is I can't have tightened my caliper bolts properly as one flew out yesterday from my front brake, meaning I had to drive home 15 miles using my handbrake and the gears to stop.
