Rocker gaskets ??? Labour time ?
Discussion
Ok so think my O/S rocker gasket may be leaking I can see small weep/wetness towards the front corner
Also car leaves small pool of engine oil and having a quick look it looks to be coming from above the oil filter , I’ve checked the filter (it’s not leaking there) and seems to be working it’s way from above so thinking possible rocker gasket (sump is further back and all looks dry there )
Don’t think I want to tackle that job myself so.......what would be the labour time from garage ? Just want to make sure I’m being quoted correctly
Also is it best to do both sides ?

Yes I will look at the sender when I can get better access , not saying it is the gasket but odds are !?!?
Don’t like the idea of doing one but if the O/S can be done without plenum removal , could it be done fairly easy to cure the leak ?
Never done V8 rocker gaskets only 4 bangers !
What’s the average time to fit O/S compared to N/S ?

If I was asking this question I would be asking someone who is a TVR expert and can be trusted to be honest (which, actually, most of them can be).
My 100% honest TVR expert is Mat Smith, of Mat Smith Sports Cars Ltd, Downham Market, West Norfolk.
Not actually that far from the east Midlands, where i live.
If you give him a call he will give you a price, and do you a good job if you care to take your car to him.
His hourly rate is substantially lower than some of the Birmingham/Coventry brigade.
01366 386004 is his number

Hi other potential culprits for leaks in that area are front cover gasket, valley gasket seal and sump.
I’ve recently changed my valley gasket and re-sealed the sump.
All perfectly DIYable - you can check out what’s involved by investing in a Haynes Range Rover or Discovery manual.
Good luck

This ^ and a bi-hex 5/16 or 8mm preferably 1/4-3/8 drive socket for the screws/bolts , if its a serp the coolant pipes are a faff when refitting the o/s cover and do not loose/misplace the steel collars (rubber gaskets) from the old gaskets in the internals all eight have to be accounted for
