New Keyfob with Integrated Alarm Button

I just spent the morning with the excellent Carl Baker of Car & Bike Installations Ltd in Petersfield.:clap: www.tvruk.tv

He has:
- converted my Chim's grotty old Opel key and separate alarm remote to a brand new, shiny keyfob with an integrated alarm button
- fitted a remote operated boot release kit (JOY!!)
- fitted some 6'x9' Alpine speakers behind the seats.

What a top bloke! Endless supplies of tea and conversation, while he gets on and highly professionally does the job. If anyone needs anything of this nature done (and I thoroughly recommend the boot release) go see Carl. :thumbup:

He did the key conversion for me a couple of months ago along with a new immobilser unit. It looks sooo much better than the tacky Opel thing originally supplied by TVR.
He's a great guy, knows his stuff and gives an excellent service.

If anyone wants a solenoid release kit I have one which someone can have for a small fee +postage. It's a universal jobbie rather than TIV specific - can't see it being too tricky to fit though.

£110 for the remote release AND the conversion of one key. May seem a lot, but well worth it for the avoidance of that pantomime you have to go thru to open the boot conventionally - not to mention the the now significantly increased bar-top cred of the keys...

I have to arrange to see Carl about my alarm and like the new key idea, just a bit
I understand that you can't go into any details, but can you just confirm that the button on the key sets or unsets the alarm and that the boot release is a totally different system.

C'mon, Sharky, stop messing around with these cosmetics. You need to get the ACT induction kit fitted and the exhaust mod done!

Just got back from Carl's, alarm now working and two keys converted to integrated alarm fob plus remote boot release fitted(seperate fob) what a great service boy does this guy know TVR electrics and alarms also a jolly good bloke. Great excuse to give the chim a 200 mile blast to his place from Kent and no more fumbling for the button to release the boot.

I wonder how the key fob thing works.
Is the same key and alarm plipper used, but made to fit into a new, all in one case, or is there more to it than that? (I see a big market for DIY kits for mr alarm man if it is fairly straight forward).

He uses a new fob with rubber button as opposed to the plastic one TVR use that over time damages the PCB. He has to cut and grind the key to shape then drill hole to secure in new fob. Very tricky job that you only get one attempt at make a mistake and it's time for a new key so in my opinion best left to the ''Master Carl''.
