Just out of interest, what sort of money are we looking at for a full change of colour Respray on a chimaera? Assuming a straight forward prep and colour.

....just out of interest for now smile

I have recently had 3 quotes and all range between £4000 - £4500. but suspect it depends on if any fractures or weak areas around the body.

I had a Surface and design full respray that was partially paid for by an insurance claim but it still cost me a small fortune.
The initial job was excellent but many stone chips soon appeared and 5 years later the car spent one winter outside the garage and suffered micro blistering. It broke my heart!

I have a friend that builds and paints cars in Billingham and he quoted me £1500 for a full respray. I am going to take the car to him this winter and consider a colour change and maybe some mods while we are at it.
I certainly wont be getting ripped off by so called TVR specialists again. Although I do like the bezel free lupo light mods they did smile

Thanks guys, as I said, it was just a 'thought' for now!

Blistering suggests inappropriate primer to me. Not good after 5years either way. mad

I may ask the question but fear some 'professional waffle excuses' or even worse I get the full blame for letting rain and snow get too it!

Any car should be able to live out in the UK and have decent paint after 5 years. Any modern car would be fine.

If it were me I would send photos to the specialist who carried out the work asking for their comments and also what they can do about it as a good Will gesture.

How they respond would be very telling on their customer service. If it was a good response I wouldn’t mind taking the car back even if I had to contribute to the remedial repairs. If it was a bad response I would never talk to them again.

Just out of curiosity, did you have a car cover on it ?

Even the breathable ones are not really suited to fibreglass cars and paint.

No I knew the dangers of covers.
