Hope you don’t mind me posting this but I’ve tried the Griff forum without reply........’lve bought another Griff 500 (97) which needed quite a bit of TLC to get up to scratch and ready for the road again. It’s just an observation but I’ve noticed that when the engine is cranking the rev counter does not read but bounces back up when it fires, I’ve not seen this or at least I don’t remember seeing this happen with any of my previous Griffs/Chims. Does this mean there is a problem or potential problem with the Ignition Amplifier? or am I being paranoid!!??

Try changing your coil king lead for another type and make sure it's away from wiring😁. This has fixed a few for me know.

Thanks Amore, I’ll give that a try.

I have tried 2 different King leads and no difference, but I’ve noticed it’s actually a few seconds after starting that the rev counter bounces up and starts
Anyone any other thoughts as to why?

Do you know someone that you can borrow a known good rev counter from, testing with a good one may save you much time

I know someone with a Chimaera in bits which has Caerbont gauges, I’ll ask him.
Cheers.
