Allright Guru's, Whats up with this?

A few years ago had the clutch changed (presumed original) @ 75000 miles for a 5ltr one(supposedly better).

Now with a measly 12000 more miles on it the clutch seems to slip but only in 3rd, 4th, and 5th. And only when you start to hit peak power, Roughly when you are right beside the car/truck you are overtaking.

Any Ideas as I cant believe that I've done in a clutch that is supposedly tougher in fewer miles!

That's normal for early wear. Those times are when there is the greatest energy transfer through the clutch. 12k sound very low to me unless it's been poorly adjusted and thereby slipping slightly when fully engaged. Perhaps the slave cylinder isn't releasing fully.

Could be the gearbox leaking oil onto the friction plate.

Did you renew the pressure plate when you changed the clutch?

Had the same problem 8,000 miles after a new clutch. TVR Power sorted it when it went in for a service. It turned out to be that the "stop" wasn't adjusted properly and therefore there wasn't enough free play in the pedal. I don't know where the "stop" is or how to adjust it but somebody else here might know.

It will be there on saturday for sure. Can't carry all the camping gear on a ZZR1200.

I just hope yours doesn't have the same problems whilst we are on route to our destination.

What time will you be there? and are you bringing a bottle of JD?
