How do you go about sleeving the exhaust, mine's far too quiet!

If you do a search, there is plenty to read. Basically, you removed the centre box near the rear where the 2 pipes go through and a combination of removed wadding, replacing the straight pipes with perforated or all together (!) increase the noise.

This will give you an idea, but some owners end up regretting it, it can sound a bit 'tractor- like' to some ears. I quite like it but if you have no cats as well, the overall result is sometime too noisy for track day limits, if that's your thing. Best you listen to some who've had it done first.

Or you can buy an already sleeved one like the one I have in my garage.

Only thing is the delivery adds ££ ....... I paid about £70 in transport costs to have one delivered, then the cost of exhaust.

That's not bad. You want to have something with a rare american engine in the UK (its a motorhome so nothing to get excited about) and the post and customs typically between 50 and 150% of the item, depending upon the cost and weight of the item. I'm looking at new manifolds but with a $500 shipping charge plus customs (probably another £200+) it gets a bit expensive.

No whistles, but yes it is a bit loud. I have no interest in tracking the TVR, but even so, the pops and bangs map on the Emerald ECU is now some what frightening

I haven’t had a chance to get it on a ramp yet to look for a leak, it goes in for an MOT in a couple of weeks so I will do it then.
As for agricultural sound then I completely disagree, along with several others who have positively commented, I did have a chance recently to compare it to an ACT system, this was certainly very good and a bit deeper, but much more expensive, if I can get rid of the whistle I will be content with the sound, but also it’s not excessively loud, I still have the main cat in and when driving the wind noise equals the exhaust at around 60 to 70 anyway, but I will report back when I find that whistle as I don’t like it much

If all the joints are ok which once exhaust is in place is usually a given I’d suspect pressure in the silencer box is finding its way out via a small hole, probably along the weld line from doing the sleeving.

Hard to detect in place, look for signs of leakage along that line would be my guess.

Yes I think you are probably correct, but I will take a look anyway when it’s on the ramp, if not I will take the exhaust off and put air through it to check for a hole

Copy this setup and you will get a raspy tuned sound not a tractor .

Other than that buy the act sports exhaust .

^^^^^^^ I think that costs a bit more than £150m more like £1050 biggrin

Tractor sound, bit disingenuous is’nt it!

Go to a race track with classic v8’s running, non of this noise abatement rap. Full fat straight through,, sounds similar to a sleeved pipe funny enough,,, it don’t sound like any tractor I’ve ever heard.

No yank V8's that I've ever experienced sound like a sleeved TVR and I have heard many more than most which is my hatred for this straight piped mod it just sounds .............. well nono the exhaust config (8 into 1) is wrong for starters to even start comparing

I’d move back to the countryside if the tractors were all flying round sounding like my straight pipe set up. Be a right laugh watching them ploughing.
