Ok so my cigarette lighter stopped working (checked fuse all ok) so thought I’d remove speaker and use as access to check connections and/or to remove the cigarette lighter

But with speaker removed went to put my arm inside (read loads on this about access and door card removal) and all I could get in was 2/3 fingers in any direction?? No way can get hand in there let alone arm ! All seems solid nothing seems to have fell down or loose and window works ?

Any ideas ?

Same thing happened to me, I got my young son to do it, much smaller arms.

Can I presume you have tried with the window up?
If the door glass is down, you won't be able to undo anything!

In mexperience you'll need to remove the door card completely to get at the cigarette lighter.

....which in turn means you will need to get your arm in right up to the elbow, with a 10mm ratchet ring spanner gripped in your fingers.
Left arm, obviously, for the rear nuts, which are down close to the bottom of the door.

As said above, you need the window up. I found that my medium sized arms would only go in if I inserted my arm through the speaker hole at an angle of about 45 degrees upwards from the horizontal, and then when it was in all the way to the elbow, I lowered my hand down to where i needed to work.

At which point I was able to confirm that the heifer was indeed in calf.....at least, that's rather what the whole process felt and looked like, according to my wife. I put that comment down to too much watching the Yorkshire Vet and not enough cooking my dinner.

There is a rubber flap affair (if it is still fitted) inside the door that you push out of the way. If you sit on the ground facing away from the car with the door open, I found this the best angle of entry. smile
I am 6 ft 2 with large (if thin) hands and I got in ok. Early models (pre '97) have 3 securing nuts, later have 4. Use long sleeves to avoid the glass fibre 'rash.'
You have to reach around the window motor inside the door too.

I put a piece of string on the spanner and then round my wrist for when I drop it. Saves rooting about in the bottom of the door.

Can we have a picture of your door and speaker hole please?
Mine are 5.25 inch speakers and the holes are not much smaller, so I too am baffled as to why you are showing two fingers to the job
