Got the car back from the garage a few weeks ago and have been round a couple of corners where it felt sloppy, like a wheel was loose, but have checked them and it hasn't happened again.

Then yesterday I was braking firmly to get into a service area and the car started juddering all over the place, so much so that I was losing steering control and veering back out towards the first lane of the motorway. Nothing obvious and managed to drive it home but am obviously browing it now. Presumably its either the suspension arms or brakes, but not entirely sure.

Anyone had this before/got any suggestions?

Sounds like your brakes.
You say you have just got your car back from the garage, presumably this was for servicing.Stripping and cleaning the brakes should be part of the service.Take a look in this area.

Would that have an effect on corners where I wasn't braking though?

The judder in to the service area could be a warped brake disc, as for the sloppy handling, make sure everythings tight on the suspension (its not unknown for nuts to come lose), if its still a problem get it to a specalist or dealer for them to have a look at. Again its not unknown for the wishbones to snap sending the car in to scenery.

If judder only occurs on bumps and corners maybe a balancing problem.

First port of call must be to check your front wheels for missing weights. If so, rebalancing required.

In any case, trip back to the garage for their expert opinionwould be the way to go.

Sounds silly, Check your tyre pressures!! After picking up mine for the first time it felt vauge floatly and juddered all over the place, and had to fight to keep it from going up the hedge. I put this down to not understanding the car and will get use to its odd moods etc.
Anyhow after the radiator went I mentioned the problem to the garage and found the tyres were 34PSI not 24! now feels 100% better. I suspect that the supplier got the teaboy to check them.

Sounds very much like a suspension problem then.
If it didn't do it prior to the garage visit, take it back.
Could be a broken wishbone or very badly worn bush.

Did you have new driveshaft rubbers fitted by any chance? Heard about a local garage leaving the rear hub nuts loose which meant the wheels were free to wobble around.

Jack the car up and physically try and move the wheel back and forth at the top
