Sealant for rear screen
Discussion
I'm currently installing new carpets in my Chimaera and when I popped the rear windscreen I was greeted by the following mess. Luckily the silicone is coming off nicely by soaking it with WD40 overnight and then using a blunt plastic trim tool to carefully scrap off the silicone.
Question is, when I come to bolt the rear screen down again, is there anything in particular to use? Just plain silicone sealant? I'll be careful to use less than the previous owner!

Just replaced my hood after popping out the window during a reupholstering.project.
Not sealed this at all because there was no sign of sealant under the original hood .
Would like to know what is best practice ?.
I am hoping for a negative response as undoing the bolts particularly those on the rear shoulder
are a real pig.

Many years ago when I re carpeted my Griffith on removing the hood I also did not find any sealant.
Replaced the hood and have never experienced any leaks from this area.

Thanks everyone.
I also contacted Central TVR and they said there isn't any sealant as standard. I'm going to clean up the area as best as possible and try it without first. The only problem I see is if someone uses a high pressure hose. The rear hoop does seem to fit quite snugly to the fibreglass body.
Fingers crossed.
