Anyone else's alarm going bat sh*t crazy in this wind? Keeps going off every few minutes. Short of leaving the car unlocked for a while, any suggestions?! Water in the wiring the culprit / over sensitive sensors? Need to get some sleep at some point...

IIRC, when I had my Chimaera alarm refurb'd by Carl Baker...a few years ago now, He mentioned that the control unit (Under the centre console at the front) was always set to 'max' by the factory guys.

There is a sensitivity adjustment screw on the Meta M-36 box that you can reduce using a plastic blade/screwdriver.
Might be worth a shot?

How old is your car?

Mine had a foxguard alarm that was upgraded to a meta alarm at some point in its life. However, they fitted Ultrasonic sensors and cut out the microwave sensor. So like you say, used to go crazy in the wind!

Hi,

if it's META, as per newer cars, you should be able to exclude the microwave/ultrasonic when you arm alarm, pressing button B twice within 30 seconds of arming IIRC.

It's a 1998 car with, I think, a Meta alarm - fob has just one button.

If there's a sensitivity adjustment I can tune down from 'max' where is this? Would be good to locate it and tone it down!

I discovered on my 99 that I can partially arm the alarm by pressing the button for up to 4 seconds as opposed to up to 2 seconds. The hazards flash 3 times and the vehicle locks but the internal movement sensor is deactivated. Not sure if this is just a quirk of my car??
