Gearbox issues

'Clunk' this morning on my way to work now i can only get gears 1, 3 and 5 =( I think its the rover gearbox (93 car)the gearstick is also now very loose. I was having problems getting into reverse and had to exhert quite some force to engage the gear so maybe thats how I have broken it. Anyway, does anyone have any ideas on a price for a fix? And does anyone know any non main dealers in NE London or Hertfordshire that would do a good (and cheap) job?

Sounds like a broken linkage to me so hopefully not a gearbox rebuild job. My car is always serviced at Techniques in Stotfold (just up the A1 past Stevenage).

They are a Morgan specialist but have ample knowledge and good value for money.

I had a similar thing with my old Chimaera (93) turned out to be the bush on the remote had juts dropped through, I think a new bush is under a fiver. Reasonable eay to do, remove the centre armrest and you can reach it from there, about an hour I seem to remember.
