A New Chimaera Owner !!

Hi to all fellow Chim owners!!
I am now the proud owner of a 1998 Chimaera 450, in Starmist Blue, with Magnolia half leather interior. The car has had two owner (demo prior to that) from new and has covered 18,000 miles! I have been looking forward to another 'Trev', as used to have a Cerb 450LW (hence the name), and loved it. Had to sell it as needed a more practical car at the time.
I had forgotten the inane grin you have on your face every time you drive it!
I have already purchased 'The Bible' from Mr Heath, and am looking to do various bits of work to the car over the coming months.
I am also in the process of joining the TVRCC, and will be attending the next meeting of the Middlesex branch at the Ace! Anyone in the London area also attending....See you there!!

Hiya!
The Cerby was great, probably the best car I have owned thus far.
But the Chimaera is also a fantastic car to own and drive! I find it more relaxed, more useable on a day to day basis although it can give you a major adrenalione hit when you press the loud pedal!
The other thing I love about it is the noise! The sound of the Cerby was visceral, but the Chim and the good old Rover V8 has the soundtrack that I grew up on, being a fan and owner of a number of American and Custom cars in the past!
Many Cerby owners say that the Chim is a soft option, but having owned both I can safely say this is not the case at all, and the added bonus with the Chim is the roof comes off!!

Greetings fellow Chim owner. A splendid choice, it must be said sir. And, although it pains me, I must also say that your steed looks resplendent in her blue coach work. A very nice example. Hope to catch both you and your machine at a TVRCC meet soon.

I am glad you like the car, I'm afraid I have a tendancy to buy blue cars, as my Cerb was "Red Bull Blue" with Magnolia and Black leather interior! I just think it looks good and 'wears well'. I think some of the colours can look a little 'washed out', but it is all down to personal likes, and the fact that we have all chosen TVR's must make a statement about our good taste anyway!

Any idea on where I can get 'dress up goodies' for the engine bay, as that will be one of the early projects!

I feel that owning and driving a Chim is a sure sign of ones superior taste in automobiles & in fact, all things in general IMO.
Tarting up the engine bay is one of my list of things to do but not quite got round to it yet. There are one or two good links to sites on PH's that do hoses and shiny things. Some of the other Chim owners who have had stuff done already will be able to tell you which ones is bestist.
hi-and congrats ! Reminds me how I felt back in 01 when I took the plunge and bought mine - 22k miles ,one owner...soon cost me £5k to add to the £20k purchase price !!! - but we are still in love -let her go last year to provide transport for wife but bought her back ( risking death by stilletoe ) after 4 months apart.. one of the most underrated sports cars around, ballistic or benign - how's your mood today ? - she will oblige - enjoy !

Thanks for the useful advice on the site which I read before I bought the car, especially the stuff about buying the very best you can afford - which I ignored to save £2.5k. I hope that doesn't prove to be a false economy! Been reading with interest this morning all the posts re: sticking seatbelts, I've already managed to destroy one belt and have had to purchase a new one (took me 1 day with the car to do that).
No doubt I'll be looking for other useful 'newbie' advice and guidance in due course. Keep up the good work and enjoy your cars.
