Hi All,

Ok, bought E38 Brembo calipers with Ford Focus 324mm discs and adapter kit for Griff 500 had 16" & 17" Cosworth diamond cut alloys but wheels definitely won't fit over calipers on the front.

I want to put these wheels on so can anyone advise me on what calipers and discs I can fit with these wheels, been told that I can use the brembos with smaller discs and the answer might be in this forum.

Thanks

Must be the shape of the wheel, spoke design if even spacers won't let it clears the caliper.

What ET are you running on the front? Spacers are required with 16” estorils but they are needed anyway to correct the ET

I've tried 10 and 15mm, the wheel has a step on the inside which won't clear the caliper.

Again, what's the ET dimension of the wheel, its a number normally stamped on the inner face, 35 for example.
Post a picture of the wheel.
I have ET35 wheels currently clearing my Brembo's and I have a new set which are ET32, in theory this moves the wheel outboard of the brakes suspension, so more clearance, but the spoke design catches the caliper and I need 6mm spacers for clearance, so the ET number does not always give a clear picture, but it's a starting point of reference.

Wheels are ET35, standard on car is 25 front and 33 rear so i have a 10mm spacer for front.

Surely with that size disc it's always going to be touch and go if it will clear at all? I suspect a smaller disc and/or mounting the caliper slightly more towards the hub might be needed. I know this is not an exact thing to use fir comparison but I run a 294 disc with another make of 4 pot racing caliper ( slim and light) and this only just( and I mean JUST!) gets inside a 15" rim. Therefore as a very rough comparison you have 30mm more on the diameter of the disc but only 1" (25mm) more on the diameter of your wheel.
As I said I know that this logic is potentially flawed as its not a like for like comparison but it suggests a slightly smaller disc and move the caliper to suit might be the way to go if you want to retain the wheels and calipers.

Using the 324mm discs requires 17 in rims really. Even if you can get 16 wheels over them the gap is mm away from wheel. This is going to introduce a lot of heat into the wheels and raise tyre pressures. Ok on the odd brake test get them hot and you’ll have issues imho.

My car using 17 rims on the front.

Any ideas as to what 300mm discs that would fit? also caliper mounting brackets? I've tried Carisport "old phone bloke" but no luck.

What width is the rim?

I'm guessing its 7"

google 'brembo brake tvr pistonheads' and read the threads that pop up.

Assuming you are still on the factory 4-stud hubs then Ford disc's are your catalogue. I have a faint memory that one of the Fiesta ST models had 300mm discs or it might be the Focus ST.

Early Focus ST170 has 300mm front discs with 4 stud fixing. They fit and depending on caliper may need a small spacer. I used them.
(Use registration number BX04 DFJ to see the options at Euro Car Parts with dimensions)

(the Fiesta ST discs are 278mm)

Sorry it's been a while for a reply, thanks for all the help everyone but think i will need to get some new wheels, the 16" Ford diamond cuts will not fit over the Brembo calipers which is a shame as they are really nice and suit the car, other 16" wheels will fit even the original Estorils.
For now i have put 17" all round until i decide on a new set, don't look right IMO as lost the staggered look front to rear plus rear wheel looks lost in the arch.

Got a hell of a lot of wheels now as a result 2 sets of 16" and 17" and my Estorils

Did you try the 300mm discs? A couple of discs and caliper brackets are cheaper than a[nother] set of wheels and tyres.
