Noisy exhaust!
Discussion
PO had had the exhaust modified, it was loud!
I fitted some decibel reducers in the tail pipes and just scraped through noise testing on track day, until Oulton Park and failed at 108db.
So with no rush to get the car on the road, I had a look inside the box.

So effectively no silencing at all, and no cats either.
I am quite happy for it to be quiet, much
quieter!
So out with the solid pipes...

And in with some perforated pipe.

Just tack welded in place either end...

And stuffed with exhaust wadding...

Shut box back up with some tacks...

And zipped back up...

Hopefully I'll like the new sound! If not, I can always go back in there and partly sleeve or something, the whole episode is less than a couple of hours work, including tea!
Dougal.

Hey Dougal,
Have you taken it for a spin yet? Mine still has the standard exhaust and it sounds brilliant IMHO. You still get the lovely V8 rumble when you bimble around and it roars when you press on. Certainly no Nascar but also tolerable for long journeys.
Coincidentally, I've just picked up a decatted Y piece for peanuts on eBay so going to fit once I've fixed everything else! I'll let you know how it sounds.
