Door Carpet Removal

Does anyone know if its possible to remove the carpet section on the door without removing the door trim ?

If so, how ???

not really, the leather bit goes over the carpet - you could cut the carpet and try ripping it off the glue but it is far easier to remove it properly....

I'd really advise against it - removing the whole inside of the door isn't that much of a pain and the way it's put together you'll only manage to remove just the carpeted bit by cutting or otherwise breaking it. You can take it off, but you'll never be able to put it back on again... What are you wanting to do?

PS: You can get everthing off in about half an hour, say an hour tops the first time you try it.

... that's provided you can get your arm in the speaker hole past your elbow! The third nut, which is about level with the fag lighter, is a biatch to get to.

As for removing the carpet without taking the panel off - I wouldn't. The carpet is wrapped around the panel and stuck at the back in places, so its unlikely to come away without any damage. Its also glued to the bit of vinyl trim at the top which you can see by looking down the top of the door.

When I removed my door panels I found the reason for a rattly window in mine - which it's had since new. Two bolts holding the window mech in place were loose, and the mech could move about 1cm in and out. And it did, often and noisily. Now the door closes like a proper car, no glass rattle!

Yep. I find lying next to the car, door open and resting my shoulders on the sill to be the best. Not as much fun as doing the full upside-down-in-the-seat trick, but I like to save that one for special occasions.
