OS rear of the block, there are three threaded holes. Any idea what size they are? M8 is too small, I think M10 will be too big, so I'm guessing they're UNF or something.

They are 3/8 UNC.

Edit Almost all the fixings on the RV8 engine are Imperial. UNC is the coarse version of the unified thread series and is used in Aluminium as the fine would strip too easily.
