Whilst trying to adjust my window height, the adjuster is totally seized up. So have stripped the door now:

My query is what do I do with the adjuster? Do I cut the rubber off to get to thread?

If it won't pull off I guess cuting is the only solution?

Shouldn't be too difficult to find an off cut of hose to replace it?

Did you select thumbnail? That photo is a bit small to make out.

I had a similar problem in the past but it was split at the end. I managed to get it out and put in in the other way round. It is simply an adjustable length of rod to limit the travel of the glass carrier. The rubber part just pulls off and has no purpose other than as a buffer against the door:

Mine was '96 but a facelift car so the rubber bit seems to be wider than yours if that is relevant.

That's posh!

on my S it is just a piece of rubber wrapped around and cable tied.

I have just completed the same job . Make sure the widow mechanism is at the bottom of it's stroke .Remove the rubber buffer , then using a blow torch gently warm the housing where the adjuster screws in using a pair of mole grips you should be able to remove the adjuster screws . I replaced mine with stainless 6mmx60mm pozi headed screws .If you find the screws are slack in the thread simply wrap PTFE tape round the thread to stop them coming loose. Makes adjusting the window heights a lot easier . While you have got the window mechanism out its a good idea to clean the old grease off & replace with fresh makes the windows go up & down easier .

Thanks, the rubber eventually came off with some prizing with a screwdriver, to reveal heavily rusted thread to the nut.

After some soaking with penetrating oil, with some mole grips, the thread was worked loose and adjusted fine now 🙂

My car is a MK1 1996 and didn’t have a posh rubber. Window did go up and down ok, but will give it some fresh greasing before all the door is put back together.

I had a similar problem recently where the rubber and I presume nut welded on where missing. Meaning the window just goes up until it jams
Has anyone a pic of what its supposed to look like under that rubber bung?

Thanks
