Reversing Lights

The reversing lights on my 94 4.0 chim are stuck on. I'm guessing it's a problem with the switch.
I've searched the threads and some appear to say you get at the switch from inside the car, while others say to go from the underside.
I've had a quick look from the console but the rubber gaiter around the gear stick is riveted on and I don't fancy drilling these out.
Haven't had chance to look from the underside yet.
Has anyone got any thoughts?
