No excuses, but the brake servo failed so I was already angry with the car and then the uj wouldn't split from the end of the column. I saw red, and a handy bracket on the column to hit with a lump hammer and now I have two steering columns. Got the pedal box out though biggrin

Is this going to whack back together again or am I now £200 worse off?

Has anyone else even been this dumb for us to know if this fits back together again? paperbag

Yes it will go back together.
I think there are some nylon inserts in either the inner or outer tube to stop metal to metal rattles so you just need to make sure they have not fallen out in the footwell. They should just slide back together with only a small amount of persuasion so no big hammers.

Great to know, thanks for the reply. It's already taking long enough to fix the problem, I really didn't need more stuff to replace.
