Oil Pickup - Should I be worried?
Discussion
Hi All,
Just had a look at my oil pickup and the steel mesh has broken in a few places causing some holes. Is this something to be worried about? I can't find a replacement part for it.
Sorry for the poor photos, you can just about make out where the wire has cracked and broken apart in a few places. I'm a bit concerned about pieces of broken mesh getting drawn into the oil system.

Thanks guys, a couple of holes are bigger than the mesh size, but you can't see it in that photo. What do you mean by drill bits Zener?
I'm not sure what's caused the holes, almost looks like someone has hit it with a screwdriver or something? I can't imagine the oil pressure is enough to make an object hit it with enough force to break the mesh.

Depends on how worried you are.
Are you worried enough to buy a new one at this price.

I don't know what some one tried to achieve with those holes around the base I'm not sure what's caused the holes, almost looks like someone has hit it with a screwdriver or something? I can't imagine the oil pressure is enough to make an object hit it with enough force to break the mesh.
the gauze damage is slight and no issue and was probably caused by the drill bit at the same time when they drilled those holes

if 80pound is already too much money, i´m wondering with what anual budget you are calculating to run such a car.Are you worried enough to buy a new one at this price.

Personally i do not have a budget, my car gets what it needs.Just making a point that £80.00 for a new pick up pipe is not at all unreasonable.
But to replace the pick up pipe for a few very tiny holes in the mesh at £80.00, seems to me anyway, a bit of a waste.
