Does anyone know whether the Cigarette Lighter in the drivers door is permanently live or whether it becomes live after the ignition is on. I'm thinking of using this for a solar trickle charger.

Permanent live in mine too (also 98 Chimaera!) much easier for charging than getting to the battery.

Its permanently live on my 98 Chim. I've had my Aldi trickle charger in there for 2 years and charges perfectly.

Also permanently live on my 97 Chimaera. I use it with a trickle charger there as well.

I wonder if they are permanently live on all TVRs because I also use the cigarette lighter on my Tuscan for the trickle charger.

Mine is too - useful place to stick an LED/LCD voltmeter, because you can always check how the battery is before trying to start the car.
