Fitting a rear lens

I need to fit a rear lens and wondered what the right way to go about it is?

How do you get the old Tiger seal off?
Does the lens need trimming to fit the individual car?
Should the lens be slightly smaller than the space it fits into so that the seal can create a bridge between the lens and the body?

And all done of course without damaging the paintwork!

ok as no one as helped yet and many have done it to chimps I have on the website www.thegriffithpages.com a Griffith rear light change that may give you some important pointers, best I can do I am affraid alsohave you tried searching the Chimp Forum, as it probably has been covered before.

Using the search function really isn't that difficult! - enter "rear" and "lights" in the search box and you'll get a list of all the threads and then scroll through a few until you find a PHer who's talked about doing this (e.g. tpo) then email them.

Simple really.

Thanks for the advice. I has already looked in the history and found nothing. Not sure where you looked since I could not find tpo doing this job. If you know of a specific could you let me know? Thanks

Is it a lens, or the cover? If it's the cover I've heard they come slightly oversized, and you have to trim em.

(I see yours is a 99, presumably with tutti fruity style lenses)

I cut out the old Skaflex from AROUND my len's but do be very carefull as one slip and the body work is b******d.
I refitted the old lens's but I believe that the new ones are fitted as they come without trimming.
If this is an incorrect statement I am sure someone will correct this.
Use Sikaflex to reseal, bit messy but works well.
The most difficult bit is the removal of the old lens's.
