Serpentine fan belt tension ?

Guys

Quick question - just put on a new serpentine drive belt - I un-did the bolt on the tensioner to slacken for removing the old belt, then after fitting the new one, just tightened the bolt back up again. The tension seems ok....

Are these self tensioning or should I be doing somthing a bit more sophisticated???

...and for future reference - no need to slacken the bolt - just put a (iirc) 14mm spanner round the nut on the tensioning arm/pulley and lean on it, the ping the belt off / on.
