Well, you won't go far wrong if you choose products from any of Autoglym, Meguiars, or Zymol, IMO.

I have long used Autoglym with great results, but I know that others will shortly jump on this post and tell you that the others are vastly superior.

In addition, I like the Autoglym website, as there is a great section (Car Care Guide) telling you how to use their products, and generally the tips and tricks of car cleaning...www.autoglym.com

The Meguiars wax is good stuff, gets rid of lots of scuffs but its very very hard work to apply.

Do one section at a time.

Give it a good wash with some shampoo from Meguiars, wash with a lambs wool mit.

Then clay the car then assess the paint for swirl marks and scratches. I would then deep cleanse the paint with Meguiars DC 1 product.

Then use Meguiars Scratch X to remove any swirl marks, this is where all the hard work comes in if you don’t have a random orbital buffer, because if you have bad swirl marks it could take up to 5hrs to do a good job of this.

Follow this with Meguiars DC 2 polish or NXT tech wax then layer a couple of coats of P21s on the top.

If you do the prep well this process above will give you an awesome deep wet look shine. And it’ll only need the wax re-applying every 6 weeks to keep it looking this good.

Alternatively (if you don’t want to spend that much) just wash it, polish it and use the P21s wax.

Products can be bought from Alex at www.seriousperformance.co.uk I like Meguiars products but I’m sure there are other as good

Top guy with good prices

Hope this helps

Hi Russel, i recently posted a thread about waxes and polishes, i tried Carplan wonderwax, then used Carplan wonderglaze each product was about 8 quid, sceptically i thought the Glaze was a gimmick but i was truly blown away by the results. The wax isnt out of the ordinary, but the glaze is a clear liquid, and you apply it with the sponge provided, wait for it to haze then buff it off (which is hard work) but blow me - the paint comes up like glass and no swirl marks etc, it also offers good protection, a week and a half later i went to wash the car again and the soap and water just beaded away, very little effort was required to wash it this time. Cant recommend it enough.

P21 polish and then P21 wax. Should take you about an hour and a half to do the lot.
The P21 is the easist polish and wax combo i've tried. Call Mike below:
www.thepolishingcompany.com/foryourcar.html
The P21 polish ands wax kit at under £40 is a bargain.
Polish every 6 months and wax as often as you like. If you wash it and fine mist with water once it's dry then buff it up - you can do this as many times as you like.

I use Swissol Wax on my current car. It has a very high cannuba (spelling) wax content and as it is not a polish is non abrassive. Over time it builds up a film which helps with water run off and marginally with bird cr*p etc. Its not overly cheap but its worth it IMO and looks very good when done.

I use 'Harly' wax www.harlywax.com. I get it on ebay from the US. Its 100% carnauba wax.
Its the best one I've come accross.

Did you know you can get Harly wax in the UK from Knightsbrooke Autodesign - knightsbrooke.co.uk for £18 free next day delivery?! Better than having to wait a week for it to turn up from America if you ask me.

its certainly not 100% carnauba wax, its says its made from 100% carnauba wax 2 totally different things i think youll find. Personally ive tried the lot and nothing beats Mothers,
check this thread :-

I found harly wax attracts too much dust, looked good for a short while then acted like a dust magnet

My mistake. www.maxx-waxx.com is the one.

Cheers.

I recently used McGuires (sp?) Quick Clay, ScratchX, PlastX(rear screen), carnuba wax and gloss wax. It took me 7hours to do but the results were amazing, it looked alot (not a little - alot) better than when i've used Autoglym etc before.

I posted the pics on another thread
