URGENT! - Brake help needed.

Right got an odd one.

260mm Front Discs

Currently changing the front brake discs and the was going well until I compared the new with the old.

The new ones have a larger offset to the old ones. (ie the actual disc part sits futher back)

The replacement discs are standard Ford (XR4i, Escort RS, 2.0 Sierra) ones.

Now if I fit these the my callipers will be too far foward but they are currently sat on a 5mm spacer between the calliper mounting braket and the calliper pushing the forward about the same amount as the new discs are out.

Question is.

1) Has anybody else had this problem?
2) Has anybody else got this spacer?
3) Can anydody once and for all say what are the correct replacement discs? (Spoke to 2 delaers one said special machined TVR parts the other said standard Ford "we get them from a motor factors"

Please help as I have no car until I can sort this.

Hard to say without seeing it...but if you remove the spacers and the disc is sitting in the middle of the caliper..then it should be ok without the spacers !

Sounds the same as mine, the spacers were nothing more than washers. Refit the caliper brackets without the spacer and all should be fine.

All sorted, fit new discs but put the spacers the other side of the calliper bracket so the nut didn't petrude through.

The new discs are all good and fitted.

Time will tell if all is okay.
